A large Hunstein mountains cult hook, of impressive proportions with three sets of arching hook protrusions around a central lug. The Hunstein Ranges area was first entered by Australian Patrol officers in the mid 1960's. This piece would date from the 1970's. Provenance: from a private collection in Adelaide. Hunstein mountains, upper Sepik river region, Papua New Guinea, height 138 cm
