Chinese late Qing Dynasty (1880 - 1911), hand fan with finely pierced and decorated ivory stays, body of the fan is decorated on each side in rich tempera colours with scenes from court life, the faces are painted on small ivory or bone Tablets applied to the paper in the Thousand faces pattern, probably Cantonese mid 19th century, (some repairs to ivory and a few faces detached.), width 50 cm
