A remarkable Victorian high carat gold rope twist hinged bangle, C.1889 with inscription date. Presented by Queen Victoria to Umsheti. One of the two envoys sent by King Lobengula of Africa to be the eyes and confirm that Queen Victoria actually did exist! Umsheti and Babaan confirmed this and were astounded that the telephone could speak pure Matabele as it if had been made in Africa and that the Kings and Queens in Madam Tussauds could converse magically with Umsheti. Gold weight 308gms (unmarked). Contained in the original S. J. Phillips red moroccan leather box (New Bond Street, London).
