A pair of Japanese timber and ivory shibayama whist Counters, Meiji period, circa 1900, finely decorated with each face decorated in raised gilt paste with trailing ivy and flowers to one, and a bird in a fruiting blossom tree to the other, with ivory counters exquisitely inlaid with mother-of-pearl, coral and lacquer insects and birds.
