A Spode monochrome bat printed covered chocolate cup and saucer, circa 1805, pattern number 557, the tapering conical cup with dual scrolled handles and a low domed lid with gilt knop, decorated to the cup with a scene of an abbey, the saucer decorated with patterns, both with gold trims on white, number underside, otherwise unmarked. Height 11.5 cm. (cup) diameter 14.5 cm. (saucer)
