An Etruscan revival gold bangle, circa 1870, the hinged bangle with a finely detailed rams head terminal and applied gold wirework decoration. 18ct yellow gold. Weight 54.61 grams. Inside diameter 5.5 cm. Stamped on catch but indecipherable, fitted box signed on the interior J.M.Wendt, watch maker & Jeweller, 84 Arundle Street, Adelaide and at mount Gambier, the exterior with applied brass panels 'Fr Holtermann's, patent, similar examples may be found at both the British Museum and the Victoria & Albert Museum
