A rare Chinese 'Zhu Huang' (bamboo veneer Technique) brushpot, 18th century, of lozenge shape, the boxwood body applied with the skin of the bamboo, each of the four panels finely carved in low relief with flowers of the four seasons, supported on a quatrefoil foot, 11 cm high. Provenance: Acquired in Hong Kong in 1987. *vessels made in this fine low relief style are characteristic of the Palace workshops.
