A rare Dry lacquer wood sculpture of Buddha, Yuan Dynasty (1280-1368), seated in dhyanasana in a long pleated robe draped over the shoulders, leaving the chest open to reveal beaded necklaces, the face serene and eyes downcast, a lotus stem on each shoulder, slight traces of gilding and probably covered in several layers of lacquer, the remains of old pigment in the hair, the base open revealing the core material, 22.5 cm high.
