A very fine small Japanese gold and silver lacquer Kogo, Meiji period (1868-1912), with silver mounted rims, finely painted in black and silver with an owl on a tree branch, the inside cover and base decorated with a similar treed landscape in black and sepia, the base sprinkled in nashiji lacquer, signed under the lid in gold 'Kanshosai Toyo' in tiny characters, 4 cm high, 7.4 cm wide, 9.2 cm deep, Japanese wooden box.
