A magnificent Paul Storr sterling silver table centre/fruit stand the wide rimmed bowl with leaf and lattice decoration and a frieze of scrolls and flowerheads, above three female figures each holding a crossed thyrsus tied with a bow, tripartite concave base with egg and dart edge, the legs formed as Baccanalian masks with acanthus leaf feet, joined by heavy swags of fruit and flowers. The engraved inscription in Welsh translates as ; a gift from Mr Ambrose Price of Llanobaiadr (?) with a present of 2,550 pounds to Thomas Peake Esq. On his skilful and succesful efforts in securing substantial compensation (damageswealth?) from the late Robert Jones, a leading citizen of London in the year of Our Lord 1809.
