Frederic de Vernon for Cartier, c. 1900, 18ct yellow gold, the oval form mother-of-pearl medallion modelled in relief as a Madonna, within a surround of seed pearls, signed 'F. Vernon' and marked ' Cartier 53217 18k France', together with an 18ct yellow gold chain, minor chip to, medallion (2), approx. Weight 2.5 grams, Frederic de Vernon (1858-1912) was a well-known French medallist. Cartier ordered a number of medallions made by Vernon and produced by Felix Duval.
