A small gilt bronze Directoire timepiece, circa 1795, the clock symbolic of fertility, depicting a mortar giving birth to a putto in a puff of smoke which houses the timepiece, the white enamel dial with black Arabic numerals, with an associated watch movement marked 'Baillon Paris' to the back plate, supported on a plinth bearing the applied inscription to the frieze 'Gare La Bombe', supported on four tapering feet, 20.5 cm high, 14.5 cm wide, 6.5 cm deep
