A pair of large and impressive carved ivory tusk figures, early 20th century, (4), each standing wearing loosely draped robes, one depicting Guanyin holding a basket of lotus and fish in her right hand and a leafy branch in her raised left hand, her hair drawn into a high chignon set at the front with a figure of Amitabha Buddha, a small boy attendant crouched to one side with hands in praying attitude, and a phoenix with a scroll pendent from its beak above the lotus petal base, the other depicting Shou Lao holding a gnarled staff in his left hand hung with a gourd and a peach bough, his right hand holding a further fruiting peach branch, a boy attendant holding up a basket of peaches and riding on a deer to one side, above rocks and a gnarled pine tree, the base of each with an incised two character mark, wood stands, (4), 92 cm high
