A Chinese porcelain bottle shaped vase, the base incised with a six character mark of Chenghua, made in the Kangxi period, 1662-1723, a yellow ground, with famille verte palette, painted in aubergine & hues of green, golden pheasant balancing on the branches & a magnolia growing from rocks, the reverse with flying birds, the elongated pear-shaped body rising from a spreading foot to a long slender neck, height 52 cm. Provenance: Heriot Family, Tasmania, brought from Scotland in mid 19th century, thence by descent
