Victorian Goldfields: The old Identities Association, Ballarat, 1851-1854, medal in silver (32.5 mm) with suspension ring; Ballarat (Charles Andrew Welch, Jeweller, 23 Sturt Street, Ballarat), inscribed on reverse 'Arrived Aug / 53 / W. Lanndon.' the obverse shows mining equipment used in the early days. Four other examples are known; one of which is in the Museum Victoria collection, and one in the gold Museum at sovereign Hill.

'Welcome Nugget' tobacco advertisement, chromolithographic print, circa 1860, for T.C. Williams Co., Manufacturers, Virginia, U.S.A. 26 x 26 cm; framed 49.5 x 48 cm overall. The image references the Welcome nugget, discovered at Bakery hill, Ballarat in 1858, and weighing 71.3 kilograms, at the time, the largest alluvial gold nugget ever found.

£1 Colony of Victoria, miner's right printed on vellum, issued to Arthur hope 'At Melbourne' on the 11th of January, 1855 (shortly after his arrival in Melbourne) and endorsed to be in force until 10 January, 1856. The document is further endorsed verso by Arthur hope indicating the it was renewed until 29th of November 1873 by which time he was residing in an elegant mansion 'Bonnington' in Toorak Rd south Yarra. This 1855/56 miner's right on vellum is the earliest example seen in our rooms.
