An original hand-written ten-page letter headed 'Kokopo 1st June 1937' (after the Rabaul earthquake) and a seven-page typed letter on government letterhead, headed 'Kokopo 5th June 1937' with later pages dated 9th June (after the Rabaul volcanic eruptions), both of which provide graphic first hand reports of what was happening during the emergencies; accompanied by some photos of the writer and her family and of some ceremonies they witnessed.
