Pitt holds up the dome of St. Paul's which he is to place over Lincoln Cathedral. He stands in a graveyard at some distance, and leans forward, his right foot resting on a tombstone inscribed 'Hic jacet' and decorated with a bishop's mitre, a winged skull, and cross-bones.
