1978 Alfa-Romeo GTV 2.0, Chassis no. AR116370004879, Engine no. AR01623064132 Reg: GTV-026 exp: 29/09/2008. One of the greatest names in the history of motor sport, Alfa-Romeo have been active in motor sport since the founding of the Marque in 1911 and it is unsurprising that their road going cars reflect this fact. The GTV was the coupe version of Alfa Romeo's medium class Alfetta saloon,launched in 1972. The range included both four-door saloon and stylish twodoor coupes with 1600, 1750 or 2000 badging according to the capacity of the engine chosen. The 2496cc V6-engined version was not available until the 1985 GTV. The Aletta/ GTV coupe not only looked good and went well, it handled like a dream. This was thanks to its motor racing developed, independent suspension all round and ingenious rearmounted gearbox which spread the weight out over all four wheels so effectively. The engine to have was the 1962cc four though, the performance and weight of which best suited the coupe, which was made until 1986, the Alfetta saloon being replaced by the 90 1984. From information supplied by the vendor, we understand that this example was repainted in 1998. Other than this it is unrestored and unmodified from its orignal specification and is described as in good condition in all respects, having one owner and driver since 1985. Australian delivered car and complete with log books it is finished in Alfa red with grey velour interior
