Demetre Chiparus (1886-1947), 'Fille au pyjama', gilt bronze and ivory on a portoro nero marble plinth, circa 1925, the bronze cast by Edmond Etling &, Cie, Paris, the head and chest, arms, and feet carved in ivory, the pyjamas and slippers in gilt bronze finely cast with decorative patterns in the fabric, mounted on the original marble plinth of classical design with a gilt bronze relief of a stretching cat set to the front, impressed 'Bronze' (upside down) to the cuff of the left leg of the pyjamas, incised signature to the top of the plinth beneath the left slipper heel: D.H. Chiparus, incised 'Etling, Paris' to the left side of the base of the plinth, 49 cm high, overall (the figure alone 34 cm).
